Are you a young creative (18-25) with a passion for storytelling and community heritage?
We're looking for 3 to 4 young people aged 18–25 from the Global Majority to join an exciting opportunity to be trained in oral history capture techniques, learning how to preserve and share powerful community stories. Participants will receive £350 for taking part in the programme.
Selected participants will receive professional training on collecting oral histories, plus the opportunity to build intergenerational connections with older members of the community and co-design a community feast, inspired by their interviews!
After a successful first phase, Story Catchers is returning for a second iteration in collaboration with Memories Kitchen – creative heritage programme that empowers global majority 18–25 year-olds and builds intergenerational connections.
This opportunity is open to Global Majority 18–25 year-olds who live, work or study in Wandsworth. All applications will be considered based on enthusiasm, interest, and commitment to the project goals.

Story Catchers programme participants will:
- Attend 4 online training sessions, followed by in-person interviews and creative development.
- Engage with older people from community members across Wandsworth
- Carry out oral history interviews independently
- Collaborate with chefs to design a food menu, supported by our facilitators

Timeline:
- 19th September: Story Catchers application window opens.
- 31st October: Story Catchers application window closes.
- 3rd November: Application decisions made.
- November 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th: Online Oral History Training Workshops running at 2:30pm-4pm every session.
- Oral History Interviews: December – exact dates TDB but will require availability of up to 4 days.
- January – February: Collating interview material and designing food menus.
- Early March: Programme concluded by a celebration event.
