Nine Elms Creative and Cultural Quarter

This work has enabled existing organisations to expand or to relocate, and as well as to bring new cultural organisations into the borough.

In 2016, Battersea Power Station kick-started the establishing the cultural and creative industry quarter launching The Village Hall as well as The Cinema and NEON (a groundbreaking immersive experience that will transport you to pivotal moments in history) at the Power Station, joined by a temporary gallery from RCA (ended in 2019) and the R.O.S.E Community Centre. 

Since then, a further cohort of exciting contemporary cultural organisations have also opened their doors to new facilities, new public programmes and wider audiences through partnerships with the council and developers in the area. 

These include Matt’s Gallery, World Heart Beat Music Academy, Chocolate Films, Theatre503 Studio and BLINK Dance Theatre in Nine Elms. It is exciting to have such a depth and range of high quality accessible cultural experiences on offer from contemporary visual arts exhibitions, to film and media training, dance and music teaching and performance, recording studios and early playwriting development. 

We are delighted to be able to support and grow what is on offer in the borough for communities to enjoy and take part in. These creative partners enrich the borough’s cultural landscape, offering rewarding opportunities to experience, participate and learn about a wide range of creative activities and artists’ work. Wandsworth Council understands that arts and culture strengthen communities, from the local area and further afield, and supports health and wellbeing, as a key part of London’s cultural legacy.
