Memory Boxes for Dementia

Memory Boxes for Dementia, in partnership with the University of Roehampton and local organisations, will bring Wandsworth’s rich heritage collection into care homes and community spaces.

Running from November 2025 to January 2027, these bespoke interactive time capsules - filled with sensory objects, archive materials, and recordings - will be used to spark connection, trigger memories, and support wellbeing for people living with dementia.

Each box is themed to evoke memories and spark conversation: School Days, Going Out, Hobbies, Kitchen and Celebrations.

These boxes are designed to support reminiscence therapy and community engagement, helping participants connect with the past through tactile, visual and aural experiences. Local community organisation have been invited to box boxes, so they can host remembrance sessions using curated memory boxes filled with heritage objects from the Wandsworth Heritage Collection, spanning from the 1950s onwards.

Local community organisations, working with people living with dementia, are invited to partner with us.
