Sounds, familiar
This immersive sound installation will be hosted first at the Sound Minds gallery in February 2026, followed by Southside Shopping Centre in March 2026.
Produced from a series of audio field-recording explorations of multiple areas of Wandsworth over one specific, 24 hour period. Sounds that attracted As It Is Arts founder and artistic director, Lol O'connor's attention were captured. These recordings were then taken into the Sound Minds studio to be workshopped to produce a soundscape, with images captured in the recording locations to produce an immersive installation that invites its audience to experience their own locality afresh.
Sounds, familiar has been made possible thanks to the generous support of a Welcome to Wandsworth micro-commission.
The soundscape repeats every 45 minutes.
