EVENING LECTURE: The Echoing Scream: The Birth of Expression

‘The Scream’ by Edvard Munch, created in response to an intense emotional experience, was a rallying call. ‘Expressionism’ rose from it, showing life not as it is (Realism) or as perceived in a fleeting moment (Impressionism), but as experienced.
This multifaceted talk will look at artists such as Kandinsky, Klee & Schiele, as well as thinkers, such as Nietzsche, Freud & Schoenberg, and chart the origins and historical context of the movement.
