The Battersea Jazz Festival is delighted to be welcoming a true living legend of jazz, Scott Hamilton, for an unforgettable evening celebrating alongside internationally-renowned vibraphonist, Nat Steele.
One of the all time great tenor sax players, Scott Hamilton, will be coming to St Mary’s Battersea for an unforgettable evening celebrating the music of John Lewis, Milt Jackson, and the Modern Jazz Quartet. Alongside internationally-renowned vibraphonist Nat Steele, the two will present music from their new album: “Afternoon in Paris: The Music of John Lewis and the MJQ” on Sunday 7th June.
Scott Hamilton is a true living legend and one of the all time great American Tenor Saxophone players. His big, warm, golden saxophone tone and perfect sense of swing carries on the tradition of the classic jazz tenor masters in the style of Ben Webster, Coleman Hawkins as well as Zoot Sims and Don Byas. He has performed alongside the likes of Benny Goodman, Tommy Flanagan, Milt Jackson, Gene Harris, Rosemary Clooney, Al Cohn, Ruby Braff, Charlie Byrd and countless others in a career spanning 50 years.
