Griffin Primary School has been announced as the winner of the Wandsworth Climate Justice Educational Garden Competition. The school’s innovative “Griffin Green” proposal impressed judges with its strong focus on sustainability, biodiversity, and education, promising to transform the school grounds into a vibrant, low-maintenance learning environment.

The winning garden is designed to serve as a “living room” for the school community, inspiring science-based learning, after-school clubs, and extracurricular activities, while also connecting with other green spaces across the borough. Its thoughtful design ensures easy integration into school subjects and activities, making it a practical yet ambitious project for staff and students alike.

Judges praised Griffin Green for its well-rounded approach, highlighting the school’s commitment to creating a space that benefits both people and the environment. The project will receive expert guidance and resources to bring the vision to life, helping staff implement the garden without adding extra complexity.

We are thrilled to see Griffin Green come to life, it’s an inspiring example of how schools can combine education, sustainability, and community engagement in one innovative space.”
