Enterprise Way and Causeway, SW18
Oil painting by Stephen Chaplin depicting Enterprise Way and Causeway, SW18. 2002.
This painting captures an industrial landscape with a unique artistic touch. The foreground is dominated by a gravel-covered ground, depicted with varying shades of beige and white to convey texture. In the middle ground, there are piles of soil or greenery and sections of fencing, suggesting a construction or industrial site. On the right side an area is covered with trees, only the canopies visible.
Buildings in the background add depth to the scene, with one featuring a dark roof, and a blue fence connecting them. A tower stands out in the distance, its vertical form and contrasting colour drawing the eye. The sky is overcast, painted in grey tones with hints of blue.
The artist’s use of distinct blocks of colour emphasizes form and texture over detail.
