Artist Biography
John Wheatley (1892–1955) A British painter, etcher, and teacher, John Wheatley was known for his portraits and genre scenes. He studied under Stanhope Forbes and Walter Sickert, and attended the Slade School of Fine Art (1912–1913). A member of the New English Art Club from 1917, Wheatley’s work reflects a strong academic foundation and a sensitivity to character.
