Youth Club Micro-Commissions

During the London Borough of Culture year, we funded 10 amazing Youth Club Micro-commissions.

Youth Club micro-commissions offered Wandsworth-based youth clubs the opportunity to receive up to £1,000 towards creative engagement activity during the London Borough of Culture year. Successful organisations used their funds to lead their own creative, cultural, or heritage projects that support the development of skills, social life and well-being of their young people.

Following an open call-out between October 2025-February 2026, applications were reviewed by a youth council panel who helped to decide which proposals were awarded funding. Read on to learn more about the 10 micro-commissioned activities!

UNIQUE Youth

UNIQUE Youth engaged a group of young people in creative workshops led by artist PiNS to design their own vanity pouches. The workshop involved designing personalised pouches inspired by PiNS to reflect the young people’s personal style, as a fun, practical and creative opportunity for the group to consolidate some of their learning around personal care. After designing and creating their bags, participants were able to take them home and make use of them straight away.

Young Carers

Young Carers worked with PiNS to create their own logo design for Wandsworth Young Carers Project youth club jumpers. Over two sessions, PiNS facilitated the group in crafting artistic designs that reflect and celebrate the identity, cultural backgrounds and passions of the young people. The jumpers were then printed, ready for wearing as part of marking Young Carer’s Day 2026.

Caius House

Caius House delivered 2 creativity workshops designed to help young people explore self-expression and build their confidence through sneaker customisation. Led by artist, speaker and founder of CussTOMS UK C.I.C Alishia Jallo, participants engaged in discussion, designed and hand-painted their own pair of trainers whilst reflecting on their identity, values and aspirations. This programme combined a hands-on artistic practice with reflective discussions, empowering participants to connect creativity with personal growth and self-belief.

Devas Youth Club

Devas Youth Club engaged past and present senior (age 15+) youth members in music sessions, running twice a week. Facilitated by trained staff from Devas, sessions worked with groups of 15-20 young people to teach them about the music production process with the goal to develop their understanding of playing various musical instruments, creating and recording original music. This project built on existing success of Devas’s music production sessions with junior youth group to extend the offer to a new group for the first time.

Ruckus Youth Club

Ruckus Youth Club led weekly workshops with young girls in Roehampton with the aim of fostering wellbeing, resilience and community through celebrating arts and heritage. Workshops were designed around themes of reflection, dreaming big and setting intentions, giving girls a chance to explore their identities, ambitions and creative voices.

Happy Homes

Happy Homes ran a project called ‘Threads of Time’. Bringing Wandsworth’s young people and older residents together to take part in creative skills sharing and development workshops. Over five sessions, participants connected to share personal stories, learn new skills and create artworks that celebrate culture, memories and the everyday life of their community. Sessions covered cooking, storytelling and textile art techniques with young and elderly participants working side by side to exchange ideas and experiences.
