Battersea Town Hall was once a site for radical politics, including infamous speeches and debates on religion, suffrage, social housing and art. In March 2026, award-winning theatre collective Quarantine take over the former Town Hall – now Battersea Arts Centre to ask: who gets heard in a place like this today? Part of Wandsworth’s London Borough of Culture year, A Public Address brings together people across Lavender Hill, the borough and beyond, to create a programme of events from intimate encounters to grand-scale durational performance. Drawing on Quarantine’s 27-year history of dismantling conventions and collaborating with all kinds of people, A Public Address dances around the edges of theatre and civic art to produce a fortnight-long takeover giving voice to those we live and work beside, but may not yet know.
