Growing Together: The Culture of Sharing Plants & Skills
Date
Tue 10 - Wed 11 Jun 2025
Plants have long been shared between gardeners, from botanic gardens
conserving rare species to allotment holders exchanging cuttings and
seeds. Whether for sustainability, social bonding, or simply to prevent
waste, this culture of sharing helps communities grow - literally and
figuratively. Join us in exploring the art of plant propagation through
cuttings and seed saving. You’ll learn hands-on techniques to grow your
own houseplants and garden plants, while considering how sharing these
green gifts connects people and strengthens communities. Participants will
take home propagated plants to nurture and pass on, becoming part of a
wider plant-sharing movement. We encourage attendees to bring something to
share - cuttings they’ve taken, a potted plant to practice propagation or
seeds to swap. This event is for ages 13+, as activities require patience
and care. While no separate youth activities will be provided, teens are
welcome to join alongside adults. We’ll also open a discussion on setting
up a community plant-sharing network - bringing our gardens, and people,
closer together.
