Roopa Basu
Roopa Basu is a multi award-winning London-based artist and designer with a love for colour, storytelling, and creative connection.
Her work spans painting, mixed media, and print design, often drawing on her global upbringing across three continents. Whether she's layering textures in the studio or leading a mural in the community, Roopa’s art is all about capturing moments, sparking dialogue, and celebrating shared heritage.
She’s received grants for Wandsworth Arts Fringe and South Asian Heritage Month, and was one of the selected artists for Culturally Mindful, a creative health residency for London Borough of Culture 2025. Roopa also runs Roopadesigns, her own design studio, and lives by the motto “think globally, act locally.”
What do you love about culture in Wandsworth?
I’ve lived and travelled across the world; but Battersea is home. What I love most about Wandsworth’s culture is how local, lively, and full of heart it is. Whether it’s a community festival, a pop-up show, or just great conversations with fellow creatives, there is always something brewing. It’s a brilliant place to feel connected and creatively alive.
