Stoneleigh Youth Orchestra
Stoneleigh Youth Orchestra is one of the UK’s leading youth orchestras. Founded in 1944, and now based in Southfields, our 170 members rehearse on Sunday afternoons during term time and put on 3 concerts a year in concert halls in and around London.
As well as our Main Orchestra for players aged 11 – 18 of Grade 7+ standard, we have a Training Orchestra for younger, less experienced players (Grade 4+) to take their first steps in making music together.
Our conductors and professional music staff are backed up by a team of experienced volunteers who ensure that our young musicians can develop their skills to their full potential in a fun and supportive atmosphere. Every year, some of our players move on to study music at universities and conservatoires, and we are proud that past Stoneleigh players can be found in leading orchestras in the UK and Europe.
Entry is by audition. These are held in September, January and April.
