Wandsworth Heritage Festival

Wandsworth Heritage Festival is an annual festival celebrating Wandsworth’s rich history through a programme of walks, talks, exhibitions, and creative performances.

Taking place from 23 May - 14 June, the 2026 Wandsworth Heritage Festival is organised by Wandsworth Heritage Service to celebrate Wandsworth’s rich past, with the support of contributors from local groups and societies who share their enthusiasm, knowledge, and time.

The programme includes exhibitions, screenings, talks, walks, self-guided and led tours as well as the chance to meet people with a shared interest in the borough. Many events this year focus on Wandsworth’s shops and high streets, past and present, offering some fascinating stories.

‘It is my privilege to be the custodian of Wandsworth’s rich archive collections. A big part of my role as the borough’s archivist involves making the collections accessible to residents who can find out more about the heritage of their area and hopefully gain a sense of belonging and place. Our year as London Borough of Culture increased engagement with the borough’s history, and made residents feel like the borough’s heritage is their heritage – regardless of how long they have been here. For me, this is the most important legacy of a joyful year.’ - Emma Anthony, Archivist, Wandsworth Libraries & Heritage Service.
