Bring your own object to cast and explore materiality, contexts and meaning in this interactive workshop at WIP Space.
In this hands-on workshop, participants will transform small every day objects - a key, a screw, a toy - into sculptural forms using layered paper and eco-friendly plant-based glue. By wrapping familiar items in tissue paper, recycled paper and packaging scraps, they build a lightweight 'second skin' that both resembles and reimagines the original form, exploring how materials and context can shift the meaning of a thing.
Finished pieces are delicate sculptural objects that preserve traces of their original function while taking on a new identity. All materials provided; participants are welcome to take their work home. You can bring your own object to cast.
