Neville Gabie
Revisiting The Dinner - celebrating heritage with public art
Date
Wed 17 Jun 2026
Join us for a discussion with artist Neville Gabie on the role of public art in fostering belonging in development. Followed by a tour of the heritage centre and drinks at Sambrooks' bar.
How can public art foster belonging?
During the redevelopment of the former Young’s Brewery site, Neville Gabie was commissioned to reflect on Wandsworth’s brewing heritage. In the spirit of belonging, ‘The Dinner ’reimagined a company meal 100 years on, bringing together the locals, planners, and architects involved in the modern story.
Neville will be joined by John Hatch (long-time on-site brewer) and Susie Gray (public art consultant) to reflect on the artist's role in bringing belonging to placeshaping. This will follow with a tour of the brewery’s Heritage Centre (the UK's oldest continuous brewing site) and drinks at Sambrooks Brewery.
