Known for our vibrant and diverse communities, the borough has a proud cultural history as home to Battersea Arts Centre, Tara Theatre, Tooting Market, the Clapham Grand, the Royal Academy of Dance and much more. We are a young and dynamic borough with communities from across the globe, creating a rich tapestry of ideas and creativity.
Our cultural programme is being created with local people and organisations, with free events for everyone. From a mass dance event to a choral spectacular, we will come together to share experiences.
By connecting us, our year can supercharge our health and happiness. It will open doors for our residents and help people find creative careers. We want it to be a catalyst for change so that creativity is recognised for its power to improve our health.
About London Borough of Culture
Launched in 2017 by the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, the London Borough of Culture award sees London’s 32 boroughs bid for more than £1m of funding to stage a programme of cultural events and initiatives.
