Our Beautiful Neighbourhood Exhibition is Almost Here!

Published Tue 27 Jan

This wonderful exhibition, spread across multiple venues in Wandsworth, is a public celebration of artworks created by pupils age 9-13 in Wandsworth schools.

Over 1,300 children from more than 50 classes across Wandsworth have taken part in workshops for Our Beautiful Neighbourhood, the collaborative art project for London Borough of Culture delivered in partnership with the Royal College of Art. Artists have worked with primary, secondary and SEN schools across the borough.

During the sessions, artists encouraged young people to explore the local flora and fauna in their neighbourhoods, supporting them to draw and create collages inspired by what they discovered.

The workshops have now come to a close, and the artworks produced will be brought together to form public exhibitions and art trails across various venues in Wandsworth. Participating schools will be invited to a facilitated visit in Spring 2026. Schools involved in the project also had access to teacher-led sessions supported by CPD.

The exhibition will feature pupils’ collages, which have been photographed and printed onto large banners to create a vibrant display highlighting the diverse habitats and species found in Wandsworth.

This visual project celebrates how connecting with nature can support and improve mental health and wellbeing. With its focus on biodiversity and place, Our Beautiful Neighbourhood has been the London Borough of Culture’s most ambitious schools art project to date.
