Battersea Power Station, London

Oil painting by R.C.D. Lowry depicting Battersea Power Station, London

View of Battersea Power station from the opposite bank of the river, with cranes and other machinery in front. Smoke from the four chimneys creates a misty effect. There is a reflection of the station in the water.

Located on the banks of the River Thames in Wandsworth, Battersea Power Station is one of London’s most iconic industrial landmarks. Built between 1933 and 1955, its four towering chimneys and bold design reflect the scale and ambition of Britain’s energy infrastructure. Once a major supplier of electricity to the capital, it has now been part of a mix-used regeneration project.
