Paper Invitation to Open House – Jamaica National Building Society. Spanish Town, Jamaica. 1975.

This printed invitation card was issued by the Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) to announce the opening of its 10th branch office at 26 Wellington Street, Spanish Town. The card invites recipients to attend an Open House event on January 2 and 3, 1976, featuring music and refreshments.

Front has full colour design with five famous Jamaican faces and the Jamaican national symbols of a bird, fruit and flower. Back is plain.

The left side of the interior of the card displays the following inscription "AN INVITATION TO VISIT OUR SPANISH TOWN OFFICE AND START THE NEW YEAR WITH US" alongside the JNBS logo and slogan: “THE SAVINGS & HOME LOAN PEOPLE. REMEMBER- YOU CAN SAVE WITH JAMAICA NATIONAL FOR ALL THE GOOD THINGS IN LIFE". The right side provides event details and it is signed by Elroy Flowers, Manager.

Founded in 1874, the Jamaica National Building Society played a pivotal role in promoting home ownership and financial savings across the island. This invitation reflects the organization’s expansion during the 1970s, a period marked by increased urban development and community engagement. The Spanish Town branch opening was part of a broader effort to make financial services more accessible to Jamaicans in regional towns.
