The Pond
Oil painting by Miles de Montmorency depicting a pond. Early 20th century.
The painting depicts a serene landscape scene, capturing a tranquil moment in nature. The foreground features a body of water, the pond mentioned in the title, reflecting the surrounding greenery. The reflection is slightly blurred, suggesting movement in the water. On the left side of the water body, there is an expanse of green grass or marshland.
The middle ground is dominated by lush trees with dense foliage in various shades of green and hints of autumnal colours like brown and purple. One tree on the right has branches extending dramatically over the water.
The brushwork appears loose and impressionistic.
