Dairy, Frogmore

Watercolour by W.A. Nicholls , depicting the Dairy, Frogmore. 1888-1889.

This watercolour depicts a rural scene. The main focus is a farmyard with various buildings, including a shed and a barn, all filled with objects. The buildings are surrounded by trees and foliage, adding a touch of nature to the scene. The most prominent structure is a large , open-sided shed constructed of wood and with a sloping roof. An emerald cart can be side inside and birds are resting on its roof and openings. To the right of the shed there are several other buildings, with the one immediately next to it, also wooden, having a door where we can see the interior. To the left several smaller wooden buildings and a wooden fence occupy the space. A large barrel sits next to the fence with several tools resting on it.Two human figures can be seen in the painting, as well as a dog, a horse and some birds. A woman stands near a shed, while the man is working inside the structure. There is a inscription on the back of the watercolour with the data. This could either be "1888" or "1889".
