Copper Mills on the Wandle

Copper Mills on the Wandle

Watercolour by J. Hassell, depicting the Copper Mills on the Wandle. Circa 1825.

This watercolour depicts an industrial scene with a group of buildings forming an industrial complex. The buildings are characterised by brick walls. multiple chimneys emitting smoke, and a series of connected structures. The river flows though the scene, passing alongside the industrial complex, with a small bridge crossing the river in the fireground. Trees line the riverbank and the background. There are inscriptions on the bottom area of the watercolour: "Copper Mills on the Wandle" in the centre and "Hassell" to the right side.
