This watercolour depicts a large house behind a walled fence. The house ids the central focus of the scene. It is a multi story building adorned with several architectural details including multiple chimneys, rows of windows in the façade facing the road, and two central entrances in the fence, one flanked by 2 spherical decorations on top of pillars, and the other one larger with a wooden double door. There are threes and shrubs surrounding the house, giving the impression of a large property. Two chimneys can be seen behind the large trees on the left side. The name of the watercolour, date and artist signature are located on the right bottom side corner, "The Old Workhouse/ to be pulled down. 1844./ J.C"
