Wandsworth High Street. SW18.

Oil painting by Stephen Chaplin depicting Wandsworth High Street. SW18. 2002.

The painting depicts an industrial scene. There are four large cylindrical structures with conical tops, connected by a series of pipes or conduits. The cylinder on the right has a vertical ladder leading up to a small platform near the top. To the left, there’s a taller, narrower structure resembling an office or control tower with windows.

In front of these main structures is a long, low building with multiple rectangular windows and doors, possibly serving as storage or administrative space. In front of this building there is a wooden fence and some greenery that separates the industrial space from the public space.

The colours are muted, with shades of grey, white, blue, and brown dominating the composition.
