Summerley Street, SW18
Oil painting by Stephen Chaplin depicting Summerley Street , SW18. 1994
Abstract piece featuring geometric shapes and patterns. It predominantly uses earthy tones such as browns, greens, and greys. A large area with a brick-like pattern in orange and white suggests a wall or paved area. This is intersected by grey shapes with white highlights, which could represent shadows or architectural elements. A green triangular shape adds contrast, possibly indicating vegetation or a grassy area.
The overall effect is reminiscent of an urban landscape seen from an unusual perspective or simplified into basic forms and colours.
