Fabians at the Forge

This is a b and w print by Caroline Townshend, 'Fabians at the Forge', 1910. Townshend was a renowned stained glass artist of the Arts and Crafts movement. She started a studio at the Glass House in Fulham, in 1903. 'Fabians at the Forge' is also known as the 'Fabian Window', a stained glass window to commemorate the founding of the Fabian Society. It shows society members George Bernard Shaw and Sidney Webb hammering the world into shape, with Edward Pease working the bellows. The latter two were founding members of the Fabian Society, with Webb also founding the London School of Economics, where the Fabian Window is now displayed.
