William Brodrick (d. 1620). Originally from Richmond in Yorkshire, William Brodrick rose to prominence as an embroiderer to King James I. By 1605, he had acquired a country house in Wandsworth, likely located on what is now Putney Bridge Road. His legacy continued through his son, Sir Thomas Brodrick, and later descendants who played notable roles in British and Irish public life.
