Helen Wilks
I am an artist (a painter) living and working in Battersea with a studio in The Old Imperial Laundry. I make paintings, prints and drawings as well as artist books and drawings on ceramic and on textiles. Much of my work is narrative and I have made many works relating to theatre/dance performance and to puppets (Punch and Judy) , the experience of childhood, autobiographical subjects, occasional portraits, still life, and hand drawn books. I sometimes work very large (eg a 16 metre, 360° panorama) and also small scale. I have taught in art colleges and done workshops for children of all ages. I do not like giving lectures but am happy to speak publicly in a more informal interview context.
