Become a Young Reviewer
Want to see free theatre, dance, circus, exhibitions, spoken word performances and more - and get your reviews published?
Join our 2025 cohort of Young Reviewers and get mentored by professional writers, develop critical thinking and writing skills and their creative voice, build your confidence expressing your creative voice, access free tickets for Wandsworth Arts Fringe and London Borough of Culture events, and see your reviews published on our website.
This project is free and for those aged 14 – 19, who live or study in the borough of Wandsworth. The first sessions will be taking place during May half term and will cover the following:
- Tuesday 27 May, 4-6pm: an introduction to reviewing with theatre actor, writer and director Kalungi Ssebandeke
- Wednesday 28 May, 4-6pm: developing your creative voice with writer, poet and literary reviewer Thembe Mvula
- Thursday 29 May, 4-8:50pm: a day in the life of a theatre reviewer with a special guest, followed by watching Derry Boys at Theatre 503 (show tickets and food will be provided for free)
What will I need to do?
- Attend three in-person workshops and a performance to learn about what being a reviews writer involves – this will be led by creative professionals who will tell you all you need to know.
- Attend 2 performances during Wandsworth Arts Fringe (your choice, subject to availability - 2 tickets will be provided free of charge for each reviewer)
- Write a short review of each performance you attend
- Attend a feedback session after the festival to tell us what it was like to take part.

I enjoyed being able to meet other young, like-minded, aspiring journalists, and it has been amazing to see my work published on a website
