The River and Fulham Church, Putney, London
Oil painting by J. Levens depicting The River and Fulham Church, Putney, London. 1904.
The painting depict a serene riverside scene. In the foreground, there’s a railing along the riverbank with several small rowboats moored nearby. A lone figure stands next to one of the boats, his left leg standing in the lowest rail, looking at the river. To his right we can see a tree and to his left a lamp post. The calm water reflects the light beautifully, and across the river, you can see trees and buildings, including a church with a tall spire. To the right of the painting we can see a stone bridge that leads to the other bank of the river. The sky is painted in soft hues.
