Lower Richmond Road, Putney
Oil painting by F. Ellis depicting Lower Richmond Road, Putney. 1970.
This painting shows an urban landscape of Lower Richmond Road (Formerly Windsor Street). We can see the façade and one side wall of the barber shop on the right side of the painting, with a sign on a pole indicating the nature of this shop. The façade is green on the lower floor and white on the first floor, with a black roof. Red flowers adorn the exterior windows on the first floor. We can see patrons inside the barber shop. Terraced houses alongside the road with advertisements on the walls, including one that says "Paper hangings supplied to the trade" and a black lamp on the left. The road ends on a gated fenced house with trees.
Production Notes
Probably painted in the 70s but appears to have been copied from a late 19th century photograph such as 1998.1260 in the Olney Collection.
