This watercolour depicts the Hale and Bull Family Memorials at St Mary's Church, Battersea.

Inscription on Hale memorial reads "Underneath Layeth the Body Martha wife of Charles Hale Gent who dyed 4th of Augst 1736 Aged 51 Year's in the Conjugal & Relative States of Life a most dear Partner and most Exemplary Pattera. Also in the same Grave Lieth the Body of the above Charles Hale who died 13th of Sep 1739 Aged 72 years. Those who knew him best valued him Most." This memorial consist of a cartouche, with scrolls to top, sides and base around the central oval inscribed area, and a painted shield of arms above.

The inscription on the Bull memorial reads "Here also Lyes Frances Bull Relict of Mr James Bull Who dy'd June 14th 1738 Aged 62. Also John Bull Son of Mr John Bull who dyed August 20th 1738 Aged 19". The Bull family, prominent merchants in early 18th-century Wandsworth, are commemorated through a series of richly sculpted cartouche monuments in the church. This Bull family monument is shaped like a violin and framed by broad, elegant scrollwork. At the top sits a painted shield of arms, while the base features a finely sculpted arrangement of flowers resembling a festoon. At its centre are two prominent heads of corn, surrounded by detailed floral carvings that highlight the craftsmanship and symbolic richness of the memorial.
