Join for a special Heritage Talk led by Mick Taylor, a dedicated volunteer and award-winning contributor to the Wandle Industrial Museum.

This event offers an in-depth exploration of the River Wandle’s compelling history and its enduring influence on the borough of Wandsworth. Mick will guide attendees through the remarkable story of the River Wandle, beginning with the origins of Wandsworth’s name and continuing through centuries of industrial activity along its banks. Discover how the river powered mills, fostered local enterprise, and even played host to pioneering transport innovation with the creation of the Surrey Iron Railway, one of Britain's earliest public railways.

In the second part of the session, Mick will spotlight the many artists, authors, and creatives who lived in or were inspired by Wandsworth, revealing how their work reflects the area’s evolving identity.

We look forward to welcoming you for a captivating journey into Wandsworth’s past.
