The Study Day will be lead by Stella Grace Lyons, an experienced and accredited Arts Society lecturer, with a huge following from her online lectures.

The schedule will be as follows:

10:00: DOORS OPEN

10:30 to 11:30: Lecture 1: ‘Introducing the Nude'

BREAK - for tea/coffee & biscuits

12:00 to 13:00: Lecture 2: The Shock of the Nude'

LUNCH BREAK (bring your own!)

13:45 to 14:45: Lecture 3 'The Censored Nude'

15:00 - End

In whatever art gallery you visit, you will find yourself, at some point, in front of a famous painting depicting a nude. Once considered the epitome of beauty, the nude is now regularly the subject of censorship and controversy. The course will look at how images of the nude reflect the social attitudes of the time and changing relationships with the human body: Should images be censored? Are female nude always objects of desire and male nudes always symbols of power?
