Everyone in the group is dressed in t-shirts featuring iconic music artists or bands, including The Beatles, Elton John, Queen, Guns N’ Roses, Iron Maiden, and Pink Floyd. Behind them, a large image of a vintage TEAC reel-to-reel tape recorder is projected onto a screen. The stage lighting is moody with purple and red hues, adding to the dramatic tone of the scene.

Life of I is a production created by actors with learning disabilities which shows difference in the way they would like you to see it.

Each scene has been written and devised by our actors with the hope of breaking the stigmas and assumptions that are put upon them every day. The show highlights the intersectionality of life that people with learning disabilities experience, and the kinds of obstacles they overcome along the way. Expect laughter, tears, and shed loads of learning. “I have a learning disability and… and what?”

The Baked Bean Charity provides outstanding services for people with learning disabilities. Based in Wandsworth, they offer a range of drama, musical theatre, singing, dance , DJiing and Lift Skills classes. Their touring drama group, Beans in Education, are made up of adults with learning disabilities who travel around the country creating shows in collaboration with NHS Trusts, universities and local councils.

Liberty Festival is the Mayor of London’s flagship disability arts festival, platforming some of the most exciting disabled creatives, showcasing bold, innovative work for free that excites, challenges and reframes disability for audiences across the capital and hosted in each London Borough of Culture.
