This black-and-white photo depicts Adrian Lee, a white man playing an electric guitar. Adrian’s figure fills the frame from just below the chest up. Adrian faces the camera squarely but his eyes are shut with deep concentration as he plays his guitar which is held high to his chest across his left shoulder. His right hand fingers pluck the string while his left hand fingers are curled to press the strings on the guitar’s neck. He wears a dark baseball cap, a light-coloured shirt with a mandarin colour unbuttoned over a dark t-shirt. The background is light, and Adrian’s stance is dramatic and strong and the image of him is clearly articulated in this black-and-white photo.

Hexagram is an ambitious programme of classical, contemporary and improvised music featuring blind/visually impaired connections.

Almost 100 years since the invention of the electric guitar, Hexagram draws on this rich cultural heritage and opens up areas of new potential at the stunning World Hearbeat, in the heart of Nine Elms,  revealing yet more of the instrument’s rich character.  Hear different perspectives - from the quiet intimacy of the unprocessed instrument to extended 3D soundscapes using multiple effects, loopers and speaker systems.

Composer and guitarist Adrian Lee is one of the leading music creatives in contemporary UK theatre. Adrian’s output comprises over 60 scores for theatre, TV, radio, film, dance and music theatre. He has worked extensively with theatre companies including the Royal National Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company and Young Vic Theatre. TV scores include music for documentaries broadcast by BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5.

Liberty Festival is the Mayor of London’s flagship disability arts festival, platforming some of the most exciting disabled creatives, showcasing bold, innovative work for free that excites, challenges and reframes disability for audiences across the capital and hosted in each London Borough of Culture.
