Black people have been present in Britain since its early history; including a troop stationed at Hadrian's Wall in the third Century AD, which was reported to include Black soldiers. Continuing down the centuries, many legendary Black individuals, of every persuasion, have spent brief periods of time living in Britain, and in London in particular. These unlikely sojourners have sometimes spent the British breaks, secretly and quietly living among us, and this talk will include political refugees and activists, fashion models, modern musicians, television personalities, stowaways, and sportsmen. Many of us would be surprised to learn who may have been living next door.
