Been There, Done That, Got The Symptoms!

Date
Fri 6 - Sat 7 Jun 2025
Been There, Done That, Got The Symptoms is the inspiring true story of how a group of people with Parkinson's and their friends formed comedy theatre group Parky Players during lockdown in 2020. You'll hear how they managed against the odds to create award winning theatre and music, performing at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2022 and 2024, and at the 2023 World Parkinson’s Congress in Barcelona in front of 2000 people. Watch the film by award winning documentary maker Dave MacFarlane who followed and filmed their activities during 2024, including rehearsals, as well as performances in Nottingham, Birmingham and their six-day run at The Edinburgh Fringe. You'll hear what challenges were faced and how they managed the highs and lows of such a adventure. Surprising, funny and thought provoking, this show aims to continue the Parky Player's mission to challenge perceptions, raising awareness of what it is to have Parkinson’s, and show what is still achievable after diagnosis. This show is suitable for all regardless of whether you have connections to Parkinson's or not. It's about the three things the Parky Players believe are important for everyone in life: acceptance, adaptation and ambition.
