Choreographic Workshop with Red Desert Dance

Join Red Desert Dance Ensemble for a free dance workshop taught by artistic director Cathy Allen. The workshop will include hip hop and contemporary dance, with an informal showing of Allen's choreography being performed on 14th June. Allen is a Professor of Dance at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Her performing credits include works by Doug Nielson, Gregg Bielimeier, Loretta Livingston, Martina Young, Bill Evans, Malashock Dance Company, Rudy Perez, and Anna Nassif. She also performed in "Footloose” the 1984 movie, “Lido de Paris” and “Jubilee” in Las Vegas. Allen has twice received the Nevada State Council of the Arts Fellowship Award, The CSun Award for Teaching, National Dance Association Presidential Citation Award for her service in APHERD. Her works have been featured and won 1st place several times at IDCH in Athens, Greece, the Akropoditi Dance Festival in Siros, Greece, KNSU in Seoul, Korea, LIPA in Liverpool, England, SUNY at Buffalo in New York State, BYU in Utah, Kiel, Germany Dance and Gymnastics Festival, Netherlands Dance Conference, DaCi International Conference in Saskatchewan, Regina Canada, Arizona Jazz Dance Festival, and Fringe Festivals in Australia and Scotland.
