So many of the graves and memorials in beautiful, tranquil Streatham Cemetery tell a story of the Second World War

It's a story that is largely fading from memory now with only the very oldest among us being able to recall their experiences. Yet with both of my parents actively involved and the courses of their lives determined by what happened then, my impression of the War and its impact on my family feels very vivid. The centenary of my Mum's birthday so close to VE Day seems like a good time to remember and reflect among the butterflies and bees. Join me on a very personal journey as we take a look at some of the stories connected to WW2 in this special space. It includes the section of people 'killed by enemy action' when a V2 rocket landed on Hazelhurst Road, the formal Wandsworth civilian memorial, graves of fire personnel who died when their stations were devastated in the Blitz, exiled Polish leader Jan Kwapinski and Alfred Davies killed in a raid on Buckingham Palace.
