Take part in Common Ground — this year’s nature-inspired community arts programme, inspired by the garden and hand-carved wooden interiors of 575 Wandsworth Road

Each month, we host free artist-led workshops at Battersea Arts Centre for local residents to engage creatively with nature on their doorstep. The first workshop will be led by papercutting artist, Chloe Campbell and take place during Mental Health Awareness Week with the theme of community. You will create nature-inspired papercuts based on patterns from the garden and interiors of 575 Wandsworth Road. These designs will then be transformed into cyanotype prints using a light-sensitive process — bringing each piece to life through light and shadow. Common Ground is part of 575 Ways to Create and Connect, a programme designed to spark creativity and connection across all ages. Whether you join for one session or many, you’ll find a welcoming space to create, connect, and grow.

This black-and-white photo depicts Adrian Lee, a white man playing an electric guitar. Adrian’s figure fills the frame from just below the chest up. Adrian faces the camera squarely but his eyes are shut with deep concentration as he plays his guitar which is held high to his chest across his left shoulder. His right hand fingers pluck the string while his left hand fingers are curled to press the strings on the guitar’s neck. He wears a dark baseball cap, a light-coloured shirt with a mandarin colour unbuttoned over a dark t-shirt. The background is light, and Adrian’s stance is dramatic and strong and the image of him is clearly articulated in this black-and-white photo.
