Rieko Makita

Making her Sydney Opera House debut at just 16, Rieko Makita is a Japanese Australian pianist and composer whose artistry has captivated audiences across Australia, Japan, Europe, and the UK. Currently based in London, Rieko made her solo debut at the Royal Albert Hall's Elgar Room to a sold-out audience, gave a solo recital at St John’s Smith Square and performed live on BBC Radio 3’s "In Tune" in 2024.
Rieko’s journey began in Tokyo and flourished in Sydney, where she graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. After moving to London, she earned an Artist Diploma and Master of Performance with Distinction at the Royal College of Music, receiving the prestigious Constant & Kit Lambert Fellowship & RCM Accelerate Award.
As part of Wandsworth Art Fringe Festival 2025, Rieko Makita look forward to presenting an immersive performance alongside Londinium Consort and digital artists Teodora Serbanescu and Bethan Hancock.
