Penwith Road, SW18
Oil painting by Stephen Chaplin depicting Penwith Road, SW18. 2002.
This painting depicts an urban street scene. In the foreground, there’s a row of parked motorcycles along the sidewalk next to a road with white markings. A single car, a white van, is visible on the road. To the right, a sign reads “M.O.T SERVICE” indicating the direction to a vehicle service station.
In the middle ground, you can see buildings with windows and doors, and one building appears to be under construction with scaffolding around it. The background features trees and a clear sky. Interestingly, there are no people visible in this scene, which gives it a somewhat serene and quiet atmosphere.
