Flying the flag for the Boat Race

Time 12:00 - 14:30 To celebrate Wandsworth becoming The Mayor’s London Borough of Culture 2025, Kinetika and Putney School of Art and Design worked with local community groups to create 50 silk pennants, with designs inspired by the contrasts between Wandsworth’s green and urban spaces along the River Thames, from Roehampton to Nine Elms. The designs were then drawn on to the silk with wax and painted with dyes. Come to see the colourful avenue of silks on Putney Embankment to welcome visitors to The Boat Race. These silks will be a part of Urban Flow on 13 September 2025, a spectacular procession through the streets of Roehampton where 100 flags, 100 local participants, and world-class dancers will come together in a fusion of contemporary dance, martial arts and live soundscapes.
