Dresses made into skirts, jackets made from sample scraps, jumpers upcycled with embroidery, we have an abundance of creativity at Remaykit! Fast fashion is one of the most destructive industries on the planet, driving the climate crisis through massive carbon emissions and rampant over-consumption. Yet, right here in our local community, we’ve discovered inspiring individuals who are challenging this narrative of fast fashion by upcycling, reusing materials, and giving garments a second life instead of buying new. Hear the stories behind each garment, why it was recreated and what it means to the person who made it. From heirloom textiles lovingly restored to thrifted finds reimagined into wearable art, these stories highlight the potential of fashion to be both personal and sustainable. Our models are of all ages, sizes and ethnic backgrounds, and come from the local community. Some of our makers are neither designers nor sewers, but just sprinkle a little of their imagination and are handy with a pair of scissors. Remaykit is open to anyone regardless of skills or experience! If you’d like to take part in this fun inclusive event, please join us, we would love to hear from you.
