Creatively Empowered
The Royal Hospital for Neuro-Disability is an independent hospital and medical charity
We care for people who have brain injuries and require assessment and intensive rehabilitation, helping those with the most complex of health needs and disabilities including degenerative or progressive conditions. The patients we support usually have complex physical challenges alongside their neuro-disability. Art is integral to patient support at the RHN, with up to 50 patients visiting the Art Room weekly for rehabilitation and leisure. Ceramics, paints, prints and textiles are only a few ways in which patients can explore their creativity in the Art Room. This project features an art exhibition of mixed media pieces produced through individual sessions, group activities, and seasonal workshops. A standout to our exhibition will be a video documentation of our patients being creatively empowered using traditional art materials via wheelchair adaptive equipment provided by Enayball and our in house Specialist Wheelchair Team. The public will be invited to trial this equipment themselves in our creative workshops. This initiative celebrates our patients’ artistic achievements while offering a unique, inclusive experience for the wider community.
