
Queer and Queering Shakespeare

Will Tosh, the Globe's Head of Education and Research, discusses Shakespeare’s queer themes and his book Straight Acting: The Many Queer Lives of William Shakespeare with writer, presenter, and performer Holly James Johnston. Will Tosh is a Head of Research at Shakespeare’s Globe in London. He is a scholar of early modern literature and culture, a dramaturg for Renaissance classics and new plays, and an historical adviser for television and radio. He is the author of two academic books, and he appears regularly in the media to discuss Shakespeare and his world. Will was educated at the University of Oxford and Queen Mary University of London, and had a previous career as an actor. Holly James Johnston is a writer, presenter, and performer, whose work brings art, history, and literature to audiences in playful and creative ways. She has presented short films for Tate, The National Gallery, V&A, and The National Trust, and recently created a history podcast .
