Meet the Artists
Isabel Fletcher
Isabel Fletcher is a textile artist who explores the way overlooked production offcuts can act as portals into the craft of their industry. Reframing disregarded offcuts as glimpses into the craft of making, she aims to increase empathy for possessions and encourage a reduction in consumption and waste.
Isabel sees education as a crucial factor in developing this connection to possessions by running workshops that nurture a reconnection to material knowledge and making skills.
Isabel has run workshops for clients and spaces including; the British Council, TOAST, Museum of London, ACAVA Maxilla Shed, The Hub Sleaford, Kingston School of Art. Isabel has exhibited her work at; the Design Museum, Somerset House, Cavaliero Finn, Crafts Council, the Brompton Chapel, London Art Fair, and is a member of the 62 Group of Textile Artists.
Olivia Twist
Olivia Twist is an Illustrator and Educator from East London with a socially engaged practice which centres community.
The key threads which can be found in her work are place, the mundane and overlooked narratives. Her visual language comprises of a myriad of esoteric layers informed by a propensity for human-centred research methods.
As a practitioner her aims are to provide her audience with 'the shock of the familiar' and to trigger greater intergenerational discussion. She has a particular interest in participatory design, relational aesthetics and documenting social history as it unfolds.
Olivia’s work can be found in the permanent collection of the Museum of London. She has designed a special edition Air Max 95 Sneaker for Nike. Her practice spans artists residencies both here and abroad, advertising campaigns for Apple Music, workshops for National Portrait Gallery, editorial illustrations for Penguin and murals for local youth groups.
Ruth Martin
Ruth Martin is an illustrator, printmaker and book artist. She prints with hand cut rubber stamps and a sense of fun. Ruth’s work has been exhibited and sold in galleries and shops throughout the UK and abroad including Liberty, Selfridges, Paul Smith, the V&A museum and The Royal Academy of Arts. Her work is also held in the collection of Tate Britain. She has taught at universities, schools, art clubs and festivals - wherever there is a chance to share her creativity.
Xavier Leopold
Xavier Laurent Leopold is a multidisciplinary artist, author, and lecturer from South London whose practice explores time, faith, memory, and mental health. A Sir Frank Bowling Scholar and graduate of the Royal College of Art, he has exhibited internationally, including at the Dak’Art Biennale in Senegal and in Brooklyn alongside Jean-Michel Basquiat. His book Art for the Heart, an activity journal supporting children’s mental wellbeing, is stocked at MoMA, Tate Modern, and the Wellcome Collection, and he regularly leads workshops and lectures across the UK. Beyond the studio, Xavier serves as a Place2Be advocate and trustee of The Africa Centre, continuing to shape conversations around creativity, culture, and care.
Hannah Coulson
Hannah Coulson is a Scottish artist, illustrator and educator. She makes colourful collages, bold screen prints and picturebook illustrations for clients including the BBC, M&S, Habitat and Conran & Partners, and leads workshops in schools, galleries and community settings. She has been an Associate Artist in the Tate St Ives Artists Programme and has led programmes and projects that enable inspiring exchanges between young people and artists. She is a tutor on the Royal College of Art’s MEd in Creative Education, and lives and works in South London.
Vanessa Rolf
Vanessa is an artist, freelance educator, visiting lecturer and engagement consultant. In her art practice, she works with cloth and stitch and other textile techniques to explore ideas around landscape, objects and human connections. Her work has been exhibited widely and she is a member of artists’ collective The 62 Group of Textile Artists.
Vanessa works with people of all ages in a range of educational settings and community spaces to exchange ideas and creative skills. She is a tutor on the MA in Textile Design at Winchester School of Art as well as visiting lecturer for BA Fine Art at both West Dean and Solent University.
Vanessa is based in the south of England.
